Torment, redemption, and the power of love. 
 
Hiding by day, killing by night, searching endlessly. Asha is tormented by her existence and the price she must pay to survive.  Sickened by the reality of her life as a SHADOWER, Asha makes the fatal decision to leave the Shadower Clan and starve herself; the only choice left to her if she is to achieve redemption and peace. 
 
Beloved by the clan leader, Asha is pursued by his "Protector" Rand.  When Rand realizes that Asha is still too determined to listen to reason, she puts into motion a plan to return Asha to the clan, unharmed. 
 
As Rand activates her scheme, Asha proceeds toward the darkness that is her future, both uncertain and frightening. Suddenly drawn from her path to the homestead of Danny, a young man in search of his past, Asha finds herself strangely attacted not only to him but to his treatment toward her. 
 
With only four days to suffer the torture of starvation and death, Asha finds herself falling in love for the first time, only to be tormented once again by the reality that she cannot have Danny or the life he offers, and that she has placed him in harm's way. 
 
As their love for each other burgeons in the few hours left to them, Rand witnesses their attraction and decides to use Danny to return Asha to the Clan.  Danny prepares for Rand's attack; only to find himself at her mercy. Superior to humans, Rand swiftly gains the upper hand and demands Asha's return in exchange for Danny's life.  Knowing that Rand will destroy Danny if she does not comply, Asha is faced with a painful decision: Continue on the path to self-destruction and take Danny with her or return to the Clan.
